How to create a lasting tribute online

A clear, gentle guide to building an online Heaven for a pet, one memory at a time.

Read this at your own pace. You can pause, come back later, or simply take what feels useful today.

01

Start with what feels true

A lasting tribute does not need to be complete on its first day. Begin with their name, one photograph and a sentence that sounds like them. You can return later when another memory comes to you.

You also do not have to begin today. Creating a Heaven is an option for when having a place to keep the story feels helpful — it is not a test of whether you have accepted the loss. You can leave the page private, pause, and return in your own time.

02

Choose the audience for each part

Some memories are for everyone who loved your pet. Others are only for you. Pet Heaven lets you choose what is public, what is shared by a stable link, and what remains private. That choice can change as you feel ready.

  • Public: visible to people who discover the Heaven.
  • Shared by link: visible to people you invite with the stable link.
  • Private: visible only to you while you are signed in.

03

Build it in layers

Think of the first version as a doorway, not a finished monument. A name and photograph can make the page recognisable; a short story can give visitors a way into the relationship; later memories can add the texture that only time brings.

Before sharing, open the page as a visitor would. Check that the words you meant to keep private are not included in a public story or photograph. You can change visibility as your needs change.

  • Begin with one image and one sentence.
  • Add the stories that feel easiest first.
  • Review the audience for each memory before sharing the link.

04

A quick privacy check before you share

Read the page once as if you were a visitor who knows nothing about your pet. Is there a photo with someone who would not want to appear? Does a story include a surname, address or detail meant only for family? Small checks can prevent an emotional moment from becoming an unwanted public one.

Privacy is not a one-time decision. You can keep a memory private while it is still raw, share a stable link with a small group, or make selected parts public when that feels right.

  • Check photos as well as written stories.
  • Choose the audience for each memory, not only for the whole Heaven.
  • Revisit visibility after adding something new.

05

Give people a way to participate

Share the permanent Heaven link with family and friends. Visitors can leave a free Light without an account. Messages will be introduced when the feature is ready; you still keep control of what is shared.

The aim is not to make a perfect page. It is to give the story somewhere to return to.

Keep their story close.

When you are ready, create a free Heaven for their photos, memories and the people who love them.
